"O'NEAL--DEATH of an OLD STOCKTONIAN -- Col. John
W. O'NEAL, for many years a resident of this city, died at his home
in San Francisco, on the 25th inst. The cause of death was heart disease.
Colonel O'NEAL was a native of South Carolina, and was aged 61 years,
15 days. Deceased first arrived in this city in 1849, and in 1855 he was
elected Clerk of San Joaquin county, and served in that capacity for 2
years. At the expiration of his term as County Clerk he was elected Sheriff,
and remained 2 terms in that office. He was a gentleman in every sense
of the word, and the tidings of his death will be received with sorrow
by many persons in Stockton and San Joaquin valley." Source: Stockton

"O'NEIL--DROWNED.--A sad accident occured on Saturday
last [25 Nov] at a small pond in the vicinity of this place. A lad named
Thomas O'NEIL, sixteen years of age, recently from Valparaiso, in
attempting to bring out some game that had been killed in the water, became
entangled in the stout rushes of the lagoon, and was drowned before assistance
could reach him. His body, after some search, was found the same day."

"O'NEIL--Former Actress Dead - Mrs. Victoria O'NEIL,
wife of James T. O'NEIL, died at her room, 231 Second Street, San
Francisco, yesterday morning, of consumption. She was 40 years old, and
had appeared on the stage under the name of Cassie WALSH. Her husband
is said to be on the road with a company at present, though his exact whereabouts
are unknown. It is claimed by the people who roomed at the lodging-house

"O'REILLY--November 12, 1900 - Mrs Elizabeth O'REILLY,
who a few weeks ago celebrated her 105th birthday, died on Saturday afternoon
at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. C. CONNEDD, at 107 O'Farrell
Street. Up to within a few hours of her death, she retained all of her
senses. Her sight and hearing were perfect and she boasted doctors were
never among her acquaintances. Medicines she never took and she never had
a days illness until a few days ago, when she contracted a severe cold.
She was unable to rally from it and it caused her death. Mrs. O'REILLY
was born in the summer of 1795 at Rathclare, County Cork, Ireland. In 1867
she came to America and resided in San Francisco nearly al the time since
she crossed the Atlantic. Her rules of life were to live plainly, observe
regular habits and always keep your mind and body occupied. As age krept
up on her, her ocupation narrowed down to knitting, and up to the time
she was taken with her fatal illness she was constantly busy all during
the day with knitting needles. She was the head of four generations still
living in the city. Among them are six great grandchildren and fourteen

are among the most respected residents of this State. The sons are Wm.
