"NORTON--Mrs. Emma S. NORTON, widow of the
late pioneer of this section, Colonel Lou A. NORTON and step-mother
of Attorney Ed M. NORTON of this city, and Lou A.
NORTON,
deputy secretary of state, at Sacramento, died in Santa Rosa Sunday morning.
Mrs. NORTON was born in Syracuse, N.Y., and was 67y. She was the
daughter of the late Jabez E. TURNER, once mayor of Sacramento and
a sister of Ralph E. TURNER of Honolulu; Annie E., Lucy J., Sidney
H. and Fred TURNER, all of Sacramento. The funeral was held Monday.
The remains were taken to San Francisco for cremation." Source: The
