60th Anniversary of Church at Santa Cruz

Reception to Members of 50 Years' Standing is Held.

SANTA CRUZ. Sept. 15 -

The First Congregational church of Santa Cruz was organized September 12, 1857, and the 60th anniversary is now being celebrated. A most interesting program has been prepared for a five days' celebration, and has so far been carried out under the most auspicious circumstances. Rev. A.W. HARE had the pleasure of welcoming Rev. W.C. POND, D.D., Rev Walter FREAR, D.D., and Rev. James B. ORR, one of the best loved pastors of the Congregational church.

One of the events was the reception in honor of members of 50 years' standing, and these were

Mrs.  Louisa BIAS
Mrs. Louisa DRENNAN
Mrs. Sara Lee HINDS
Mrs. Jennie WATERMAN
Mrs. America VING
Mrs. Amelia McPHERSON
Mrs. Grace HICKS
Mr. Alfred J. HINDS
Mr. Alfred FITCH

On Thursday there were addresses by Rev. Burton M. PALMER, D.D., and Rev. Bryant C. Preston; and in the evening by Rev. Francis J. VAN HORN D.D., subject "The Church: An Increasing Incarnation." Mr. HERTMAN was choirmaster; Mr. G.F. Wright, organist.
