NOVATO GIRL CAPTURES MINING ENGINEER
Niece of Justice Rudolff Married to Edgar E. Brown in San Francisco

The Novato Banner gives the following account of the marriage of Miss Thomas:

It was known only to a select few that Miss Ardean THOMAS, the charming and accomplished daughter of Mrs. M. A. and the late Dr. Thomas, and niece of Mr. and Mrs. H. Rudolff, was engaged since Christmas to Edgar E. BROWN, a prominent mining engineer; but all surmised that the wedding day was far off. Imagine the surprise of Judge Rudolff and family when this message was received Saturday last:

“Uncle – We will be up tomorrow to be married by you; your first marriage ceremony.” And they came, but – when the Judge looked at the marriage license he stroked his imperial and said, “Children, it can’t be done; this license was taken out in San Francisco. I can only perform the ceremony on a license issued in Marin county.”  A shade of disappointment came over the bride and groom, but they made the best of it by remaining throughout the day and enjoying the splendid hospitalities at the Rudolff mansion. Later in the evening they were joined in wedlock by a clergyman in San Francisco. Mrs. Thomas, mother of the bride, attended the ceremony.

The bride is a popular young lady, a graduate of the Novato grammar school, also of the San Rafael High school, and has of late been making her home with relatives in the city.

Mr. Brown is an experienced mining expert, at present interested with a big syndicate in developing a valuable magnesium property.

The happy couple left San Francisco Tuesday evening on their honeymoon trip. Mr. and Mrs. Rudolff went down to wish them bon voyage. They will visit San Diego and then proceed to Chicago, New York and other eastern centers. On their return they will reside in San Francisco during the winter, and in Tulare county during the summer months.
