| [Info] With every probate "record" (or "case"), there is a "list
of filings" (or "register of actions") which is simply a list of documents
that were included in the probate. The San
Francisco Superior Court microfilmed the "list of filings" for each
probate, and afterwards gave the originals of the "list of filings" to
the California Genealogical Society (CGS). But, the Superior Court retained
the actual probate documents. The originals that CGS received covers the
years 1906 through 1940. This San Francisco Probate Index is an
index of the CGS originals.
For a fee, you can request a copy of a "list of filings" record from CGS. It is the same price as the "Lookups in the Names Index". Enter all the information from our web page entry into their form, for example:
