Thomas GALLAGHER, a boy of 12 years, by playing with a pick in the excavation of an embankment on Sacramento street in San Francisco, last Tuesday, loosened the broken rock so that it caved and partially buried him. A laborer and a teamster near by ran to his assistance and just as they reached him a heavier cave occurred and buried all 3. An alarm was then immediately struck, from a signal in the neighborhood, that brought the firemen to the spot, when the rock covering the bodies was removed and the 2 men taken out, 1 dying almost immediately, and the other with both legs fractured; the boy was found quite dead.
