San Francisco now isn't like the San Francisco of the 60s and 70s.
I remember on Sunday, after Mass at Mission Dolores, my Dad would take our family to down town SF on the street car. We ususally get off at Market and 7th and walk to Powell St. my favorite store was Kress Dept. store on Market at Mason St. they had a nice toy dept. I also liked Woolworth for their pizza, sandwiches and pet dept in the basement.
I also remember going shopping with my Mom to buy shoes at JC Penney (nordstorm rack) at 5th & Market.
Back then the old Emporium use to have a book dept. on the first floor, pets, records and toys on the 4th floor.
We also used to go to the City of Paris and Macys alot just to window shop and looked at the displays back then. Union Square was very simple looking back then...it was a simpler time...
