My memories of Seal Stadium include the smell of yeast as you got of the bus (was the smell from the breweries or the bakeries? I never knew) I remember going to watch the Boston Red Sox play the Seals (the Seals were their farm team) and watching Ted Williams bat with the shift on. I can still remeber some of the players 50 years later: Albie Pearson, Marty Keough, Bill Renna, Haywood Sullivan, and Leo Kiley; players on their last team who won the PCL Championship in 1957.
For a long time I still had a 'cushion boy' pass. We used to earn one by picking up the cushions after the game and turning them in; the pass got us into the game on Sundray for free (I think after the 3rd inning). Of course 49er games at Kezar where much more profitable, we would get 5 cents for each cushion and many times go home with more than a dollar!
I saw all the early Giants play at Seals Stadium too: Mays, McCovey, Cepada, Antonelli, Davenport, Sauer, Rhodes, and may stars from other NL teams: Stan Musial, Eddie Matthews, Warren Spahn, Hank Aaron. Great memories.
