I remember the Bell Ringers on the Cable Cars which I dearly loved. My parents told me about a family member, Charley Gordon, who was a 'Singing Cable Carman' They said they would always try to get on HIS Cable Car.

A year or so ago I did a search for this 'legend' and found him.

I received the following answer from Don Holmgren from the Cable Car Museum:

Thanks to some serious research by my good friend and transit historian Richard Schlaich: “San Francisco Singing Cable Car Man” was a name used by Charles Gordon when he appeared with Felix Fernando and his orchestra, this group was also known as the American Dance Orchestra and the Sunny South Orchestra.

Greg Kelly; San Francisco History Center

Charles Gordon's sister was Mary Gordon, an Opera Singer so I was told but we haven't found her yet.
