The way I approach researching an old business is to first look for old newspaper articles and check the San Francisco City Directories. The next step is to check various research facilities for more information; they may have old brochures, photographs, etc. If you are researching something in San Francisco, the best place to start is the San Francisco Public Library's History Room and the Newspaper Center. Other great research facilities to visit are listed on our page at:
