Hello, I'm trying to get some detailed information on Black Point Cove around the time of the 1906 earthquake. It's my understanding that the beach was in disrepair and there was a lot of pollution from the factories there, and also that in 1904 or 1905 someone had proposed improving the area in a city plan. What I can't nail down is the following information:
-Were the factories still in production in 1906?
-Was the water still so badly polluted that swimming wasn't permitted?
-Were there any residencies there, or was it strictly factories?
-Was it a crowded area, or largely abandoned? What I mean is, was there really any beach at all, or was it all buried under factories and houses and such?
I would appreciate it a great deal if anyone could answer these questions for me. Thanks a lot! =)
