Hi Taryn - I've been deep in this topic & there are sources but they're slim. If you're interested in the condo development, visit the California Historical Society Library on Mission in SF. Look up Jeremy Ets-Hokin as well as Playland. I sent you an email & am attaching the history of the park and timeline from my upcoming book on the topic. You might also follow up with www.playland-not-at-the-beach.com. Richard Tuck & volunteers in El Cerrito have lots of info & can offer first hand accounts.

Good luck,
Jim

: I'm writing a research paper on urban recreation/commercial sites at Ocean Beach (the Sutro Baths, Playland, and the Cliff House, and smaller parts, like the Camera Obscura), as well as the political negotiation that eventually included some of these sites in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. I am looking for primary sources that I may not have seen - newspaper articles, literature, even advertisements. Are there any mentions of Playland in print (not online) - not secondary sources but written at the time? I have heard Anton Lavey cursed the condominium development, for instance. Any help would be great! I am particularly interested in Dave Warren's Playland Research Center if anyone has any info on that...
