I don't recall hearing about any ships damaged because of the earthquake. There wasn't any significant tsunami associated with it. It's possible that docked ships might have been damaged due to bouncing against the docks?

The local newspapers may have recorded which ships entered and left San Francisco. Also, the San Francisco Port Authority <www.sfport.com/site/sfport_index.asp> may have log books.
