I lived at Mt. Saint Josephs along with my 2 sister in the 60s. Pamela Hall, Shawna Hall and Lisa Hall. We went to Our Lady of Visitation School. I remember Sister Teresa, and Sister Mary Faith. I would love to see any photos anyone may have since I don't have any.

: : : i lived there in the early 70's in the simpatico group with sister mary faith. i may have a picture or two i will try to dig up!
: : : : Well, I haven't found a picture. But, I did discover a nice article from a 1962 San Francisco Chronicle article (02 March 1962, page 17), which begins:

: : : : "Good-by to Oliver Twist
: : : : "by Joan Heil.
: : : : "How do you turn a cold 51-year-old orphanage building into a cheerful home for 112 girls?
: : : : "It's not easy, according to Sister Mary Thomas, new administrator of Mount St. Joseph's Home for Girls, but these days the huge brick edifice on a hill in the Bayview district is a far cry from the Oliver Twist version of orphanage life..."

: : : : I checked the 1955 and 1962 City Directories and the St. Joseph's School for Boys & Girls and Mount St. Joseph's Home for Girls was located at 220 10th.(?)

: : : : You might also check with the Roman Catholic Archives in Menlo Park to see if they have any information:

: : : I lived at Mt St Joseph's on Newhall Street in the Bay View District in the 1960's. Justthe other day my daughter was going through old pictures and found one of the MT. unforutnatley it had been water runied so its barely visible. I do hav a few others Im trying to find. Would love to hear from anybody with anything about mt St Joseph's. I lived in the Jr's group, Sister Stella. and I loved it!
