Marin Publishers Left Big Estates
San Rafael (UPI) – Two San Rafael newspaper publishers who died in 1966 left estates valued at more than $1 million each, according to appraisals on file yesterday in Marin County Superior Court.
The majority of the estate of Roy A. Brown and Justus F. Craemer was in common and preferred stock in California Newspapers, Inc., operator of the San Rafael Independent Journal. They founded the publishing firm in 1937.
Brown, who died at 72, left the bulk of his $1,010,988 estate to his widow, Hazel, San Rafael, and his children, Wishard, San Rafael, and Barbara Leibert, San Anselmo.
Cramer (sic), who was 79, left a trust for his widow, Agnes, San Rafael, and education trust funds for two grandsons, Kenneth and Jeffrey Ashley, both of Greenbrae. They totaled $1,253,823.
