Mrs. M. Morrison’s Estate Endows U.C. With $450,000 Gift
Mrs. May T. Morrison of Kentfield, who died during October, 1939, leaving a vast estate, has endowed two new academic chairs at the University of California, according to an announcement by President Robert Gordon Sproul.
The distribution of her estate leaves $150,000 for an American history professorship; $150,000 for a municipal law professionship (sic); $150,000 for general university purposes; $15,000 for the May T. Morrison Scholarship Fund; $12,000 for the May T. Morrison Loan Fund.
Mrs. Morrison, a graduate of the University of California, made her home in Kentfield for many years. She graduated from the Berkeley College in 1878, and was an active worker in the Marin County branch of the A.A.U.W. She has been one of the University’s greatest benefactors.
Among her donations are the A. F. Morrison Memorial Library, the A. F. Morrison Memorial Research Associateship, and other gifts. These were given before her death.
