The above James W. Melrose was the father of Mary and James R. Melrose.
James R. Melrose married Katie Stubel in Marlin county in Jan 1907.
Ruth was born in 1909, Mildred and Margaret (twins) were born June 4, 1911. The children were in the Roman Catholic orphanage in 1920
and Frank Stubel had custody of them after that time.. Mildred and
Margaret are listed in the Mission High school 1931 senior class.
Does anyone have any more information about them. Its quite a mystery
to me since I have followed the older James W. Melrose from his birth
in 1847 in Canton, Fulton co., Illinois to San Francisco and on to these
children. My greatgrandfather, Hugh H. Melrose , was a half brother to
the James Melrose that died at Canton, Fulton co., Illinois in 1860. They
all emigrated from Northumberland county, England in the early or mid 1800's to the USA.
