Newsy Notes From Novato
Mrs. Lena Hiribarren passed away at her home in Novato on Thursday last after a brief illness. In her death Novato loses one of its pioneer residents, a woman greatly beloved by all her friends and neighbors. She was a native of Newfoundland and came to California in the early seventies. Captain and Mrs. Hiribarren came to Novato nearly 30 years ago and have lived here almost continuously since. Mrs. Hiribarren leaves a daughter, Mrs. Wellington Gregg Jr., and a son Aguair Hiribarren, also a number of grandchildren. Captain Hiribarren, who was not well at the time of his wife’s death is now seriously ill. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Father Clifford and were held Sunday at 11:30 a.m. from the church of Our Lady of Loretto, thence to Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Those who carried the body to its last resting place were J. Carrier and J. Casey of San Francisco, Eugene Connell of San Rafael and John Lonsteneann, T. F. Keating and A. DeBorba Jr. of Novato.
