Death Claims Charles Currey
Knights of Pythias Conduct Funeral Sunday Afternoon
Charles Currey, whose serious illness was mentioned in last week’s Journal, passed away at his residence on Shaver Street Friday morning. A change for the better was noticed in his condition in the earlier part of the week, but it was only temporary and he rapidly grew weaker until death came.
The funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon under the auspices of the Knights of Pythias, of which the deceased was a member. Interment was made in Mt. Tamalpais Cemetery.
In the death of Mr. Currey, San Rafael loses another one of its highly respected young men. The deceased was born and raised in San Rafael, and the large number of sorrowing friends who gathered Sunday to pay a final tribute to his memory, and the many beautiful floral offerings, attested the high esteem in which he was held.
Besides a devoted wife, Ella Currey, three sisters, Mrs. F. Carmichael, Mrs. Charles Clemmer, Mrs. Ed Petersen, and one brother, Robert Currey, are left to mourn his departure and to them the sympathy of the community is extended.
