NOVATO WOMAN KILLED BY FREIGHT TRAIN
Mrs. Rita Joseph, aged 78, was instantly killed Tuesday afternoon at Novato when she was struck by a freight train a quarter of a mile from the station. According to eyewitnesses the woman was walking along the track, and apparently did not hear the approaching train. The engineer was W. J. Robertson. Coroner Sawyer was notified immediately and took charge of the remains.

Mrs. R. Joseph, the aged mother of Manuel and Antone Joseph, was killed Tuesday afternoon by a Northwestern Pacific freight train. She was on her way to visit a neighbor and walked the track as a short cut and evidently did not hear the train coming. The accident occurred near the lumber yard. The funeral was held from the church of Our Lady of Loretta Thursday morning. She is survived by her two sons, Manuel and Antone Joseph and several grandchildren.
