News Comes That Boy Reported Dead, Lives
Good news came to the parents of Daniel F. Madden, a Sausalito boy, Monday, in the American army casualty list which gave Madden as among the wounded, thus refuting the previous report that he had been killed in action.
A number of reports have been received concerning Madden, all confirmatory of the first information that he had been killed in battle. One Sausalito boy wrote to his mother that he had seen Madden fall as they were charging forward to meet the Germans. This, it is conceded, is probably true, but it does not follow that Madden’s wound was fatal. It is likely that the parents will soon receive word from their son, to give them further assurance that he is still among the living.
