SERENA CATANZARO (sic)
Serena Cantanzaro of Greenbrae died Monday at her home after a brief illness. She was 76.
She was born in Italy where she was an elementary school teacher for many years.
Mrs. Catanzaro came to the United States in 1953 and first settled in the Salinas Valley. She moved to Greenbrae 10 years ago.
Her husband Ignazio Cantanzaro died in 1941.
She is survived by a son, Remo Cantanzaro of Los Altos; a stepson Mario Cantanzaro of San Francisco; two daughters, Maria Gasparini and Luciana Buoncristiani, both of Greenbrae; two sisters, Julia Filippi of Salinas and Emily Leonardi of Carmel; a brother, Angelo Leonardi of Salinas; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Simon Church, 1860 Grant Road, Los Altos. Recitation of the rosary will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday at St. Sebastianís Church in Greenbrae.
Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Los Altos.
The family prefers that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice of Marin, 77 Mark Drive, San Rafael 94903.
