Killed on Railroad

Thomas Flannagan, of San Rafael, was killed on the loop between the Union Depot and the B Street station at 1:50 Friday afternoon. There are several tracks on the loop and the deceased became confused and stepped in front of the moving electric train. The injured man was hurried toward the company’s hospital in San Francisco but died enroute, at Sausalito. The body was brought to Sawyer’s undertaking parlors.

The verdict of the coroner’s jury in the case of Thomas Flannagan was “We the jury find that Thomas Flannagan was accidentally killed by an electric train of the Northwestern Pacific Railroad Co. on September 15th, 1911. We censure the Northwestern for having taken said Thomas Flannagan to Sausalito instead of to a hospital in San Rafael.”

The verdict is of some interest in view of the fact that relatives of the deceased are contemplating a damage suit against the Northwestern Pacific.
