James Charles Kane, Of Carmel Valley
Born September 7, 1955 in San Mateo, California. Beloved father of daughter Kathryn Maidie Kane and son Dylan James Kane of Carmel Valley. Survived by sister and brother-in-law Nancy and Guy Grignon of Carmel Valley. Also survived by brother and sister-in-law Richard and Pattee Kane of St. Helena, brother Peter Kane of Atherton and sister Pamela Kane of Sausalito, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Maidie Oppenheimer Kane and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur C. Oppenheimer, who were long time owners of the historic Rancho San Carlos in Carmel Valley. Many of Jim's happiest days were spent living on this vast early day cattle ranch where he felt a close connection to the land. Jim graduated from Redwood High School in Marin County and attended school in Manhattan, Kansas. He joined the family business, Parisian Bakeries, but later moved to Carmel Valley as a young man. Jim enjoyed water skiing, snow boarding, and riding his motorcycle, but his greatest passion was his love for his children Katie and Dylan. They were the light of his life. Friends and family are invited to a Memorial Service to be held at Carmel Valley Ranch on Saturday, April 27th at 4:00 p.m. Donations in Jim's memory may be made to Tularcitos School Auditorium Fund, 35 Ford Road, Carmel Valley, CA 93924 or Carmel Middle School Fund, P.O.
