Rites Set For Everett Jennings
Funeral for Everett James Jennings of Sausalito, a retired Golden Gate Bridge lieutenant, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Russell and Gooch Funeral Chapels in Mill Valley. Entombment will be at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery in San Rafael.
Jennings died Monday at a local convalescent hospital following a long illness.
Born in Ferndale, Humboldt County, Jennings lived in Marin County for 35 years, most recently at 18 Filbert Street.
Jennings was hired as one of the original toll collectors for the Golden Gate Bridge after it opened in 1937. He retired five years ago.
He is survived by his wife, Esther M. Jennings; two daughters, Mrs. Frederick English of San Rafael, and Mrs. Edward Bennett of Sausalito; three sisters, Mrs. C. E. Heberling of Carmichael, Mrs. Albert Duckett of Fortuna and Mrs. John Kryla of Eureka; one brother, Edward Jennings of Myers Flat, Humboldt County, and a grandson.
