John Burdick, an old resident of Tomales and thereabouts, was found dead in a San Francisco hotel last Thursday, presumably from asphyxiation by illuminating gas. He left Tomales on his way to New York with several hundred dollars on his person but only a little silver was found in his pockets after death. Either he burned up his little fortune in one last enthusiastic spree or perhaps was robbed. The sensational stories of foul play seem to have no better foundation than a desire to fill the space of the city dailies.
