Passing of Mrs. LOYEZ
She Succumbs to an Operation in San Francisco, Last Monday

Under any circumstances, death is sad, but there are cases when it is all the more sorrowful, and the grief more poignant. Early last Monday, Mrs. MARIA LOUISE LOYEZ, of Waldo Point, departed this life. Her death occurred in San Francisco, where she went last Friday for the purpose of having an operation performed for an ailment with which she had been troubled for some time. She passed through the ordeal so well that her physicians anticipated no serious results. In fact she appeared so well Sunday that her husband was informed that he could return home. That night, the deceased was taken with a hemorrhage, from which she died early the next morning. Mr. Loyez was notified about 10 o’clock that his wife was much worse. He immediately came to Sausalito, and endeavored to procure a launch, but there were none to be had. In desperation, the distracted husband, with his son, rowed across and reached the bedside of the dying wife and mother, only five minutes after she had passed away.

Deceased was a native of France, aged 33 years, 10 months, and 20 days. She came to this country when a girl, and settled with her folks in Fortress Monroe, where she married 17 years ago. In 1886 they came to California and settled in San Francisco, and three years ago came to Sausalito and rented the Beasley place at Waldo Point, where they have been conducting the well known Villa Des Bosiers Restaurant. Deceased leaves besides her husband, 3 small children, mother, brother, and 2 sisters.

Mrs. Loyez possessed many amiable traits of character that endeared her to all those with whom she came in contact. Her life was centered in her home, and she gave her best efforts for the happiness of her family. A true wife, a loving mother, and a good neighbor, she leaves a memory that will be a precious heritage to those that follow her. For the bereaved husband and little children, heartfelt sympathy will be felt. To them the loss is an irreparable one, changing a happy home into one of gloom and mourning.

The funeral took place Thursday afternoon from Julius S. Godeau’s Undertaking Parlors, San Francisco. Interment Odd Fellows’ Cemetery.
