LEO R. ANDRADE
Funeral was held this morning at Keatonís Mortuary in San Rafael for Leo Raphael Andrade Sr. who died Sunday at Marin General Hospital following a short illness. He was 81.
A native of San Rafael, Andrade was a graduate of San Rafael High School and lived most of his life in Marin.
He served with the Army in Europe during World War I and was a charter member of the Wilkins Post of the American Legion in San Rafael.
Andrade operated a sporting goods shop in San Rafael during the 30ís and then went to work as a sales manager for the Yosemite Beverage Company in San Francisco where he was employed 20 years.
After retiring from Yosemite, he moved to San Francisco and operated a grocery store on Russian Hill until moving to Novato in 1962. He made his home at 1510 Vallejo Street here and frequently addressed the city council on various issues.
He was also a former member of the San Rafael Elks Lodge.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Katherine E. Andrade, of Novato; a son, Leo R. Andrade Jr., of Greenbrae; and five grandchildren.
Burial was at Mount Olivet Cemetery in San Rafael. Memorial contributions to the Marin branch of the American Cancer Society are preferred by the family.
