E. W. “Ted” IVERSON
Retired plumbing inspector
E. W. “Ted” Iverson, former Marin County plumbing inspector, died of heart failure March 25 in San Rafael at 85.
He was born in San Rafael and served with the Marine Corps in the Pacific Islands during World War II. A plumber by trade, he had his own shop in the 1940s and ‘50s. He later became the Marin County plumbing inspector, retiring in 1971.
Mr. Iverson was a past president of Dania Lodge, a past officer in the Marin County Historical Society, and a member of the Native Sons of the Golden West for 68 years.
He enjoyed family picnics, barbecues, lodge meetings, the Old San Rafael Fiesta Days and attending parades, especially those with the drum and bugle corps and drill teams.
His first wife, Marge Iverson, died in 1979, and his second wife, Mary Petri Iverson, in 1993.
He is survived by a daughter, Anny Myers of Half Moon Bay; two sisters, Helen Luck of San Rafael and Frances Atchison of North San Juan; a brother, Bill Iverson of Lakewood, Colo.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the First Presbyterian Church, 1510 Fifth Ave., San Rafael.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Mount Tamalpais Mortuary Chapel, 2500 Fifth Ave., San Rafael.
