DOUGLAS H. WOOD
A memorial service for Douglas H. Wood of Mill Valley will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Russell and Gooch funeral home in Mill Valley under the auspices of the Mill Valley Lodge No. 356 of the Masons.
Wood, 60, died Tuesday at a local hospital after an illness.
A native of Coalinga, Fresno County, he was a self-employed commercial artist for the past four years.
He moved with his family to England as a child, attended schools there and later served in the Royal Air Force in World War II.
Woods married his wife, Lorna H. Wood, in England in 1942. The couple moved to San Francisco in 1948 and then to Mill Valley in 1955.
He had worked in the coffee importing business and then for the Transpacific Transportation Co., a shipping firm in San Francisco, before becoming a commercial artist.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a sister, Mrs. Eva Abbott of England.
Burial will be private. The family prefers memorial gifts to favorite charities.
