ALICE GILLESPIE
Escaped 1906 fire
Alice Gillespie of Corte Madera died Monday, Aug. 20, 1990, at the Hillhaven Convalescent Center in Mill Valley after a lengthy illness. She was 89.
Mrs. Gillespie was a native of San Francisco and came to Marin after the 1906 earthquake and fire destroyed the family home. She had lived in Corte Madera since then.
She was a homemaker and also a child-care provider for many years, retiring 10 years ago.
Mrs. Gillespie enjoyed playing the organ.
Her husband, Ted Gillespie, died in 1947.
She is survived by a daughter, Marie Gillespie of Corte Madera; a sister, Elise Davis of San Rafael; and a brother, Gus Faure of Central Valley in Shasta County.
Private family services were held. Arrangements were handled by Keaton’s Mortuary in San Rafael.

In a death notice in the same paper she is referred to as Alice H. Gillespie.
