How to Write a Good Query:
- Be specific—choose a single question, topic or surname per query. Queries should be about a paragraph's length. If your query runs long or asks too much for one paragraph, consider writing separate queries to keep each one short and focused.
- Use a good subject line—choose a few key words, for example surname, locality, time frame.
- Capitalize SURNAMES—this increases the chance that the name your researching will be noticed.
- Be concise—provide a brief description (who, what, when and where) of what you already know.
- Ask your question—what is it you're hoping to find?
- Re-read—read over what you've written for clarity.
